Seminar-workshop on traditional Hilot healing held in Bataan

DINALUPIHAN, Bataan- Thirty individuals participated in ATHAG’s seminar-workshop on traditional Hilot and herbal healing held at Lunduyan Efeso, Brgy. Saguing on August 30, 2014 . The activity was made possible through the combined efforts of the Association of Traditional Health Aid Givers Philippines, Inc. (ATHAG), the United Healers League of the Philippines, Inc. (UHLPI), and Lunduyan Efeso, through the efforts of its Vice-President, Mr. Nilo C. Sabado.

The Hilot seminar-workshop began with a prayer led by Lunduyan Efeso President Almario Serrano, followed by a brief message by Mr. Sabado. Mr. Joey Guttierez from UHLPI explained the objectives of the activity, emphasizing the need to preserve the traditional healing art of Hilot. He also gave a backgrounder on the UHLPI.

After a levelling of expectations, Dr. Bibiano “Boy” Fajardo began the seminar-workshop by explaining what Hilot is and the principles behind traditional Hilot healing. He emphasized the importance of cleansing the body of toxins and taught the participants what herbs are most effective for cleansing. He also discussed common ailments and what herbs are effective to treat these.

In the afternoon, Dr. Fajardo taught the participants how to identify imbalances in the body using traditional Hilot techniques. He also taught them how to do basic Hilot in tandem with herbal treatment to address common ailments. He was assisted by ATHAG manghihilot Maryflor Alvarez and Yolanda Pedrigal, and Hilot advocates Alex Candaza and Lope Tadios, Jr.

After the seminar-workshop, participants expressed their sincere appreciation to ATHAG and the organizers, saying that they learned so much from the workshop and that it was really a big help to them. One participant expressed her deep gratitude, saying that ATHAG is leaving something with them that money cannot buy.
