PASAY CITY, Philippines- The carpeted main lobby of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) was abuzz with activity on October 10, 2014. This time, however, it was not the usual art and culture patrons who filled the lobby, but rather, the employees and staff themselves of CCP who came in batches to take advantage of the various health and wellness offerings prepared for them by the CCP Clinic personnel.

ATHAG president Dr. Bibiano “Boy” Fajardo gave a brief presentation to the CCP staff about Hilot and how it is used in the daily lives of Filipinos. His talk, entitled “Hilot para sa Pang-araw-araw na Kalusugan,” got positive responses from the audience. Meanwhile, those who wanted to experience traditional Hilot right then and there were directed to one area of the lobby, where three ATHAG manghihilot were serving a long line of CCP employees and staff waiting for their turn.

In addition to Hilot, the CCP Clinic’s Health and Wellness Fair also featured nutrition counselling services by DOST’s Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI),  eye refraction testing, doses of insight and inspiration from Brahma Kumaris, and hairdressing services. A wide range of health food and other natural and wellness products were also available from different booths.
