MUNTINLUPA CITY, Philippines- Hilot was one of the healing modalities included in the  program of De La Salle Zobel-Family Life and Wellness Institute (FLWI) and the City of Muntinlupa which spanned the latter part of 2015 to the early part of 2016. The program, entitled, “Transforming National Health Consciousness Through Holistic Education,” introduced Muntinlupa City Health workers to a variety of holistic healing modalities, including Hilot.

The segment on Hilot was held on January 4, 6, and 15, 2016 at the Muntinlupa City Health Office. During the first two days, modern Albularyo Bibiano “Boy” Fajardo presented an overview of traditional Hilot healing, with special emphasis on the importance of the spirituality of the healer in healing work. Asst. Prof. Marie-Sol Hidalgo was tapped to conduct a workshop for the health workers related to Hilot.

On the third day, a Hilot demonstration and healing session was conducted. After the basic guidelines for Hilot were explained, some participants tried doing Hilot on each other. Others who had chronic pains or other health issues, meanwhile, experienced for themselves traditional Hilot healing from ATHAG manghihilot Karisse Alzola and Yolanda Pedrigal.
