
PRACHINBURI, Thailand- Hilot was one of the traditional medicine systems featured in a recently held conference in Thailand. Albularyo Bibiano S. Fajardo was nominated by the Philippine Institute for Traditional Health Care (PITAHC) to represent the Philippines during the ASEAN Health Wisdom Conference 2017 in Prachinburi province, Thailand. Together with him were PITAHC Director-General Dr. Annabelle de Guzman and PITAHC Health Education and Promotion Officer III, Ms. Kristine Marie B. Gapor. The conference was held From May 14-19, 2017.
The conference was organized by the Chao Phya Abhaibhubejhr Hospital and Foundation. The aim was to gather traditional healers to share their expertise in providing health services in communities toward strengthening local health wisdom or traditional medicine in ASEAN countries. It brought together traditional healers from ten ASEAN countries: Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines. Traditional healers from each country gave a presentation about their healing traditions.
Albularyo Boy presented Hilot, its history, and how it works. His presentation was well-received and some of the participants wanted to learn more about Hilot.
