BIBIANO S. FAJARDO, Ph.D. (A.M.)
Overview A practicing Albularyo and Manghihilot for almost five decades, his being a businessman and Chemical Engineering graduate supports his advocacy to promote the science behind the Filipino healing art of Hilot.  He is the author of Hilot: The Science of the Ancient Filipino Healing Arts. 
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
>> AS AN ALBULARYO/ MANGHIHILOT (“Life Navigator”)
An an Albularyo and Manghihilot, Bibiano Fajardo is a healer of man, not only of diseases. In addition to facilitating physical healing through traditional Hilot and indigenous herbal formulations, he also steers people toward a state of health and harmony, as generations of Albularyos have done before him.
 
Experience Association of Traditional Health Aid Givers, Inc. (ATHAG)Founding President (2004-present)

  • Actively spearheads the movement for the recognition of Hilot  as a scientific, mainstream healing modality by:
    • Being part of the Philippine Institute for Traditional and Alternative Health Care (PITAHC) Technical Working Group to draft the Competency Standards for Hilot;
    • Serving on the faculty of the De La Salle-Family Life and Wellness Institute, teaching Comprehensive Traditional Hilot to health professionals;
    • Conducting regular Hilot-Herbal trainings at the Philippine Trade and Training Center, in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry;
    • Training interested participants on Hilot-Herbal healing at the ATHAG Training Center;
    • Performing traditional Hilot diagnosis and healing at the ATHAG office, as well as during ATHAG Hilot missions;
    • Wroting a book entitled, “Hilot: The Science behind the Ancient Filipino Healing Arts;” and
    • Carrying out media advocacy for the promotion of Hilot.
  • Developed a community-based Hilot-Herbal curriculum for the teaching of Hilot:
    • Conducted community-based Hilot-Herbal seminars in over 23 cities and municipalities across eight provinces and NCR;
  • Condensed the principles of Hilot healing into a one-hour Hilot wellness  program to  meet the demand for a uniquely Filipino spa modality, and make the health benefits of Hilot a part of “modern” life;
  • Led the promotion of Hilot for the spa, thus providing livelihood opportunities for trained therapists and making available the healing benefits of Hilot locally and internationally:
    •  Represented the Philippines in the International Spa Convention in Suntec City, Singapore to present Hilot;
    •  Explored collaborations with organizations in Germany, Japan, and the United States to bring Hilot to these countries;
    • Deployed trained therapists to Shangri-la in Oman, where Hilot is the second most requested spa therapy;
  • Conducted trainings on the Hilot rejuvenating therapy  for 1,200 therapists from:
    • Premiere spas (Chi Spa, Mandarin Manila, Bellevue Alabang, The Spa, Nurture Spa, Dos Palmas, Plantation Bay, etc.);
    •  Members of spa associations (in collaboration with the Department of Tourism);

  • Assisted in the drafting of the Traditional and Alternative Medicine Act (Republic Act 8234) or;
  • Part of the committee that drafted the Implementing Rules and Regulations for RA 8234;

  • Conducted Hilot-Herbal seminars in seven (7) Laguna towns, sponsored by the People’s Economic Council of Laguna;
  • Member of the Organizing Committee for the National Forum on Spirituality and Development (NGO national network);
 
Buod-Buhay FoundationDirector (1985-1990)

  • Conducted a baseline study on the acceptability of traditional medicine to mainstream health practitioners and LGUs, in collaboration with UP Public Health (Manila) and UNICEF, under the sponsorship of the Rafael Salas Foundation;
  • Facilitated focus group discussions with indigenous groups in Mindoro (Alangan, Iraya, and Hanunuo) on their community health practices and services;
  • Conducted a baseline survey on the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of multi-sectoral groups on traditional medicine and health in Leyte;
  • Created the framework on the modalities of the holistic and indigenous approaches to healing, in collaboration with the UP College of Mass Communication

 

>> AS AN ENTREPRENEUR/ BUILDER
 In his career as an entrepreneur/ builder, Bibiano Fajardo was ahead of the “Green Revolution,” because the companies he established reflected his innate inclination toward the environment. He was the creative force behind the eco-inspired designs produced by these companies, and was known as a “nature builder,” promoting the use of local, natural, and indigenous materials.   
BFCraft ContractorsChief Executive Officer (1977-2003)

  • Specialized in using the balance of the four elements (earth, fire, air, and water) to create unique designs for houses, restaurants, boutiques, etc.
  • Pioneered in organic interiors and nature-inspired houses/buildings with exceptional environmental features;
    • Flagship project was the famous “Nature Church” in Moonwalk Subdivision, Las Pinas City;
    •   Specialized in the construction of discos, bars, and coffee shops in major hotels (Queue Disco and Alibi Bar at the Regent Hotel; The Circuit at the Hyatt; and the ON Nature Disco owned by Sonny Tanchangco)    

 

Canewood IndustriesChief Executive Officer (1974-1985)

  • Specialized in the manufacture of furniture and interior accessories using local and organic materials such as bamboo, rattan, and nito, as well as handwoven fabrics from tribal communities, to create ethnic and organic designs for upholstery and interior accessories;
    • Clients included major hotels at the Ayala Business Center, as well as the Philippine Trade House in the United States and Europe;
    • Worked with renowned interior designers such as Edith Oliveros, Manny Castro, Leo Almeria, Mike San Miguel, Tirso Umale, Ben Hughes, as well as other members of the Philippine Institute of Interior Design (PIID).

 

>> AS A COMMUNITY ORGANIZER
 During the course of his involvement with different organizations, Bibiano Fajardo also engaged in community work and gained experience implementing livelihood and related programs in the community. 
Philippine Institute for Alternative Futures (PIAF)

  • Implemented PIAF’s microfinance program in Kawit, Cavite using the PIAF model of the Kabuoan Program for livelihood, which primarily emphasized the development of the person.  The livelihood component was an integral part of the program, and was implemented together  with empowerment modules which served as the grounding of the individual.
 
>> AS A SPEAKER/ RESOURCE PERSON
In addition to the innumerable Hilot trainings that he has conducted,  Bibiano Fajardo has also lectured and given seminars on topics such as holistic health and alternative medicine, using alternative spiritual modalities for formation, the Enneagram, comparative spirituality and religion, as well as on paranormal topics and the occult. He was also part of the pool of speakers of the American Society for Family Medicine.   Among his speaking engagements are the following:

        Salamat po sa interes niyo sa Hilot. Pasensya na po at sa ngayon ang office po namin ay dito lang po sa Pasig. Subukan niyo din po magtanong sa mga Pilipino na nandiyan sa SG, baka po may marunong maghilot ng bata.

      Salamat sa interest nyo po sa Hilot.

      Sa opisina po ay may marami po kaming manghihilot na tinuruan mismo ni Sir Boy. Isa po sa kanila ang maghihilot sa inyo pag pumunta kayo.
