Pasig City -For the second year in a row, the Association of Traditional Health Aid Givers, Inc. (ATHAG) joined the observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month at The Medical City. The event was held on October 5, 2013 at the Conference Room of the The Medical City’s Podium Bldg.
Thirty survivors of breast cancer experienced the deep, healing strokes of traditional Hilot, skilfully and caringly rendered by ATHAG Hilot therapists Karisse Alzola, Marife Merlin, Maryflor Alvarez and Yolanda Pedrigal. The participants who experienced Hilot found its long, flowing strokes very relaxing.
The day-long activity also featured various lectures related to cancer, such as: Cancer Prevention by Denise Marie H. Lavilles, MD; Breast Cancer screening by Josephine C. Tolentino, MD; Ductoscopy by Erwin B. Alcazaren, MD; Music Therapy by Conchita G. Sanchez; and Meditation by The World Community for Christian Meditation. In the afternoon, a Breast Cancer Survivor Fair was held, complete with a free breast examination for pre-registered participants.
